DEAR DAD

I found this vintage book full of short poems in a little thrift store in Alpine Texas the other day. It's called To My Dad and inside the front cover someone had written 'To my father, much love from Alice - December 1923'.

So I bought it for my Dad. Tomorrow will be the third year I celebrate his birthday without him here. And I think I will spend the day somewhere beautiful thinking about how much I miss him and reading him this book.

'Dear Dad, as your daughter takes a backward glance over the road of her youth before rounding the corner of new duties, she sees the way lighted by the sacrifices of fatherly love; she sees burdens not dropped but made easier to bare; she sees wise and helpful counsel which guided past days of temptation and nights of discouragement; and in every weary hour she found always a sane counsellor, a sympathetic friend in her dear Dad.'

Looking back at my brainstormed piece of paper, I can’t bring to mind how many nights I have spent day dreaming about this photo shoot. Here are the things that mused me; my beloved home-town that consists of suburban houses with crisp green grass, a town where the streets are bare after 5pm and the placid water plays hand-in-hand with the clouds. The opening scene shot in a petrol station from a movie that I am obsessed with; From Dusk Till Dawn directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino. And the amazing trend that is Colour Blocking, a movement that allows you to team loud and vibrant colours from the same family.

During the shoot I had my able and helpful other half Sarah Webb assisting me while I watched my thoughts evolve into amazing photographs of the biggest modest babe going Amy Charlesly. Amy absolutely took our breath away. I hope these photos will do the same for you. Enjoy xxx
