STUDIO 54

 

 

I am musing over Studio 54 big time at the moment. It was the house of disco that lived within Manhattan, New York in the late 70’s. A place where the likes of Mick and Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Salvador Dali, Brooke Shields, Michael Jackson, Cher, Elton John, Woody Allen and Andy Warhol came to play. 

One New Years Eve party, four tons of glitter was dumped on the dance floor of Studio 54, which owner Ian Schrager described as like "standing on stardust". He hoped that the celebrities who attended would still find glitter on their clothing even months after they had gone home. If that isn’t dreamy enough, Bianca Jagger was once given a white horse as a gift for her birthday party. The photographs taken of her riding this horse in Studio 54 stands to be one of the most iconic images of this magical place.
